Flat green bowling is a popular outdoors Summer sport and there are
dozens of clubs competing in many leagues.

Durham & District Bowling League matches are played with four rinks
of two wood triples and all league games are played on Saturdays.

Mixed teams are permitted.

The League has been in existence for over 80 years .


All its member clubs.are in County Durham with the majority sited within an approximate radius of 10 miles from the City of Durham with its collegiate university and famous World Heritage cathedral.

Currently there are 30 clubs, the maximum number, and these are split into 3 divisions. There is promotion and relegation for the top and bottom 2 teams in each division each year.

Each club plays every other team in its division twice each season on a home and away basis.

There is also an extensive range of knockout competions including a handicap one for clubs.
