North-East England
is an area where bowling is very popular both outdoors and indoors. There are many local Leagues and many of the member clubs of the Durham & District are also involved with two or more other leagues.
In addition to League commitments many clubs also hold Open Competitions particularly on Sundays and over Bank Holiday week-ends. League KO Competitions are run throughout the short outdoor season and full details of those for this league are on this site.
Many players also participate in Bowls England National Competitions.
The Durham & District Bowling League
in County Durham, caters for clubs which play Lawn Bowls. All its member clubs
are situated within an approximate radius of 10 miles from the World Heritage
City of Durham with its collegiate university and famous cathedral. The
League is made up of 28 clubs split into three divisions with promotion
and relegation at the end of each season. The League is over 80 years
old and some founding clubs still exist and continue
as members of the League.
