First Division's Leeholme has been able to make an agreement with Shildon BR to share its ground for all future matches not only in Durham & District Bowling League but also all its other fixtures. The green at Leeholme has suffered continued vandalism over recent years and it has deteriorated to such an extent that because of its dangerous condition playing on it is no longer safe. Shildon BR does not play in a Saturday league, So the intergration with Leeholme does not create any Saturday fixture clashes. Contact Leeholme Secretary, Barry Attwood, if more information is needed |

It came as a bombshell today when I received a phone call from Blackhall Bowls Club's Secretary, Bob Hardman, in which he resigned from the League citing an inability to raise a team for today's match and insufficient members prepared to commit for the rest of the season. This means each club in the second division will have two blank Saturdays. |

The local council has increased its charges which the small membership would apparently struggle to meet. In addition long serving secretary Norman Parker has retired and as no one was prepared to take over from him there was no alternative but to withdraw. This will leave a vacancy in division 3. 5th October 2010 |

This year's event was a complete sell out with over 130 attending and the Indoor Club was once again an excellent venue.
The biggest cheer of the evening was for Ever Ready/Craghead the popular winners of the Division One title for the first time
Carl Higgins, Victor Thompson (Co-operative Funeral Care), Bill Maddison and Richie Walker
Another notable achievement was the success of Mainsforth Bowls Club members who were winners of 4 League KO Competitions. Bill Maddison and Carl Higgins won the Mens Pairs and together with Richie Walker won both the Triples and the Hospital Cup. The fourth win was the team knockout for the Millennium Trophy. 1st Octoberr 2010 |

Mainsforth retain Millennium CupPeterlee from the Third Division had battled their way through to contest the Millennium Cup final against current holders and last year's league champions Mainsforth at Newton Hall BC on a wet and decidedly chilly August evening. Mainsforth however were too strong for the East Durham side and soon went into a lead which was extended as the match proceeded. Even with the help of a handicap start of 26 shots Peterlee were no match for the League Champions. At the finish the score was 118-66 in favour of Mainsforth. 12th August 2010 |
